Access

Mosaic takes care to protect the forest for the future. We govern access to Mosaic’s privately owned managed forest lands to ensure the safety of workers and the public, to reduce the risk of wildfires, to protect sensitive plant ecosystems, and to protect wildlife habitat.  

Mosaic supports recreational access opportunities that encourage safe and responsible use of the privately owned timberlands we manage. Activities like hiking and biking are common requests, and Mosaic grants these kinds of opportunities in a number of ways:

Access opportunities to Mosaic managed forest lands are updated each week on Thursdays for the following weekend. Gate status may change on short notice due to operations, weather, or public safety concerns.

Access FAQ’s

  • Weekend access opportunities to Mosaic private forest lands are normally updated on Thursdays for the following weekend, and reflect current weather and operational schedules. Gate status may change on short notice due to significant weather or public safety concerns.

  • Public access is not permitted to Mosaic’s forest land except during the designated times and locations specified on Mosaic's Access webpage: Mosaicforests.com/access. Public access by any means outside of designated times is trespass.

  • Access opportunities to Mosaic’s forest lands are for individuals and small groups in designated locations on weekends only. Where the weekend is a statutory or other holiday, access opportunities may be extended through that weekend holiday period. Please check this web page for details.

  • Traveling on Mosaic private roads requires caution:

    > Turn headlights on

    > Read the signs

    > Drive only on designated roads

    > Obey posted speed limit

    > Yield to logging trucks and other industrial traffic

  • If you have information about suspicious forest activities, please contact your local RCMP office or anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477. To report poachers and polluters please contact the province's 24-hour RAPP hotline at 1-877-952-RAPP or #7277 on the Telus Mobility Network. For non-emergencies please contact the nearest Conservation Officer Service district office.

  • Weekend access to the Century Sam Trail is available via the Comox Lake Main at 7km, when the gate is open.

  • Access points that include a number, are branch roads. Where the name of an access point includes a number, that number is the distance in kilometers of the branch road from the Mainline. For example Comox 9.1km is a branch road located at 9.1km along the Comox Mainline.

  • Snowmobile’s and ATV's are not permitted on Mosaic managed property unless riders are members of a club that Mosaic has an access agreement with. Access agreements allow riders safe and legal access to Mosaic private forest lands.

    Mosaic has access agreements with ATV and Snowmobile clubs. For more information about authorized snowmobile and ATV access to timberlands managed by Mosaic, please contact the clubs directly.

  • TO REPORT security concerns on Mosaic private forest land, please call the Mosaic Security 24hr Emergency Line: 250-927-6828.

    TO REPORT a wildfire or irresponsible behaviour that could start a wildfire in B.C., please call 1 800 663-5555 or *5555 from a cell phone as soon as possible. Information from the public is crucial to the effectiveness of response.
