Mosaic Forest Management Donates to BCIT to Help Train the Next Generation

Vancouver, BC – Mosaic Forest Management is investing to help meet the growing need for workers in the skilled trades through the donation of $100,000 to the British Columbia Institute of Technology’s (BCIT) Trades and Technology Program at the Burnaby campus.

"Mosaic relies on skilled workers – both as members of our team and as the people who end up using our timber in their careers," said Rob Gough, Mosaic Forest Management's President and CEO. "Every industry is facing talent shortages right now – and training the next generation is the foundation of the future for the forest sector and beyond."

Mosaic's funding will help support and advance BCIT students, education and research and to ensure that BCIT students develop the skills and experience to excel in a rapidly changing world.

“British Columbia is facing a demand for an estimated 85,000 new trades jobs over the next decade,” says Wayne Hand P.Eng. MBA, Dean, BCIT School of Construction and the Environment. “Mosaic Forest Management’s generous donation to the new Trades and Technology Complex will help ensure future students have access to the best tools, instruction and equipment needed to meet this demand.”

BCIT is the leading and largest provider of trades education in the province of British Columbia. It recently announced the new Concert Properties Centre for Trades & Technology that will anchor a nine-building Trades and Technology Complex under development. The wood trades are a key component of the complex.
