Mosaic Forest Management Named One of BC’s Top Employers for Third Consecutive Year

Mosaic Forest Management is pleased to be recognized as one of British Columbia’s Top Employers for the third consecutive year. Award recipients were announced in a special magazine published today and featured in the Vancouver Sun and BC’s Top Employer website.

“Earning BC’s Top 100 Employers once again is a great honour for Mosaic Forest Management,” said Rob Gough, Mosaic Forest Management’s President and CEO. "Our focus is building a workplace culture centred on safety and sustainability, ensuring our employees and contractors feel they belong and where team members can contribute their authentic selves.”

Mosaic Forest Management is pleased to be recognized as one of BC's Top Employers for 2024.

Many factors contributed to Mosaic securing the third straight BC’s Top Employers award, including its dedication to working alongside and supporting local First Nations, its focus on employee professional development with generous tuition subsidies, student programs and enabling careers in forestry for recent graduates, and its ongoing diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts.

Key milestones displaying the company’s commitment to First Nations partnerships, sustainable forest stewardship, safety, and the employee experience include:

  • Becoming Canada’s first and only timberland owner to achieve the Canadian Council of Aboriginal Business’ Progressive Aboriginal Relations Gold certification.

  • Early adoption of the Sustainable Forestry Initiative’s (SFI) Climate Smart Forestry objective, resulting in Mosaic winning the 2023 SFI Leadership in Conservation Award.

  • The first sales of carbon credits from the BigCoast Forest Climate Initiative, where 40,000 hectares have been set aside from harvest, with a portion of the proceeds going to the Indigenous Protected and Conserved Areas Innovation Program and the Pacific Salmon Foundation for cultural and scientific research.

  • Progress on a labour program to support company contractors by making a career in forestry approachable and inclusive, augmented with training and end-to-end support.

  • A new safety in action strategy that has safety enhancements rooted in leadership and culture.

  • Expanding employee programs and benefits, including the company’s parental leave top-up.

  • Progress on Mosaic’s diversity, equity and inclusion journey, focusing on skills training, recruitment efforts, and community partnerships.

“Mosaic earned this designation because of our fantastic team and their never-ending efforts dedicated to sustainability, safety, and enhancing our culture, which will continue to drive our efforts in ensuring sustainable forest management and a progressive workplace culture,” added Gough.

BC’s Top Employers is in its 19th year as an annual competition that recognizes British Columbia employers that lead their industries in offering exceptional places to work. The judges evaluate the most progressive and forward-thinking BC employers using eight criteria, which have remained consistent since the project’s inception: Workplace; Work Atmosphere and Social; Health, Financial and Family Benefits; Vacation and Time Off; Employee Communications; Performance Management; Training and Skills Development; and Community Involvement.
