Supporting Community Key Driver for Mosaic’s 2023 Citizen of the Year

Teammates Kitty Chadwick and Sarah Munro Honoured for United Way Campaign and Volunteer Work

Colleagues Kitty Chadwick, Sales Administrator, and Sarah Munro, Letter of Credit Co-ordinator, were jointly named as Mosaic’s fourth annual Citizens of the Year because of their volunteer efforts to support the community, including helping to lead the company’s annual United Way campaign.

The annual employee-led United Way fundraising campaign has been a part of the culture at Mosaic for more than two decades. Every year, an incredible team of employees come together to organize the campaign, which raised an impressive $68,761 to support the United Way.

Kitty and Sarah have helped lead the campaign for a few years now, and both point to the fun of the United Way campaign and coming up with exciting ways to encourage their fellow employees to get involved. Activities like the 50/50 draw and the online auction help raise excitement and money and encourage people to donate through payroll deductions, the largest source of funds raised in the campaign. Some of the campaign’s successes were shared at the United Way kick-off breakfast to help other organizations in their fundraising efforts.

“Everyone said it’s incredible how much our employees contribute,” said Kitty, who’s helped with the last three campaigns. “It’s all the different elements and how we use them successfully. People at the United Way kick-off were excited to bring the ideas back to their companies.”

Kitty and Sarah agreed that volunteering is a way to connect and get involved, and even small efforts can combine into a larger impact. Beyond the United Way campaign, both volunteer in other ways, with Kitty contributing her time and leadership to the Crimson Coast Dance Society and Sarah to the Loaves and Fishes food bank.

“I experienced hunger as a child, and being able to give back means a lot to me,” said Sarah, who has volunteered with the United Way since she joined the company four years ago. “What most of us take for granted is a huge, heartfelt moment for others.”

Both Kitty and Sarah agreed that volunteering is a way to connect and get involved. And once you do you will see how much you can accomplish as a part of a team. That small personal effort can help a lot of people in need.

They are planning to help the United Way some more. They have chosen United Way BC Central & Northern Vancouver Island as the recipient of the $2,500 donation that comes with the Citizen of the Year award.
