Mosaic Forest Management Releases 2023 Sustainability Progress Report

Mosaic Forest Management today released its annual Sustainability Progress Report highlighting the company’s continued achievements on the environment, Indigenous partnerships, workplace culture, community investments, and safety. 

“Mosaic Forest Management’s business is built on sustainability and safety, which are critical to supporting our employees, contractors, Indigenous partnerships, and communities. Sustainable forests today are the forests in which we will continue to work and enjoy in the future,” said Rob Gough, President and CEO of Mosaic Forest Management. “Every year, our Sustainability Progress Report outlines our progress. It reports on our commitments from the previous year, highlights what was achieved, and maps out our ambitions for the coming year.”

Key accomplishments highlighted in the 2023 Sustainability Progress Report include: 

  • Reduced the medical incident rate to 1.16 on 2.5 million person hours worked, representing a 14% reduction over 2022.
  • Implemented a company-wide digital safety system that delivers efficiencies and insights through data capture and analytics.
  • Recognized as one of BC’s Top 100 Employers for our strong workplace culture.
  • Expanded Mosaic-sponsored career training with the second-growth log scaling program, producing licensed workers for Mosaic and its contractors.
  • Achieved the Leadership in Conservation Award from the Sustainable Forestry Initiative® for working to adapt and mitigate climate change.
  • Earned gold-level Progressive Aboriginal Relations certification with the Canadian Council for Aboriginal Business, making Mosaic the first and only timberland owner in Canada to achieve this standard of excellence.
  • The BigCoast Forest Climate Initiative’s first carbon credits were issued under Verra’s Verified Carbon Standard.
  • Installed the Mosaic Pavilion, a forestry-themed educational permanent exhibit at the Parksville Museum.
